In addition to his designations, George has served three terms as as Chair of the Vermont Association of Realtors Professional Standards Committee, as Chair of the Communications Committee, and as chair of the Community Services Committee. In addition, George was president of the Addison County Board of Realtors (ACBOR) for two terms and was honored as Realtor of the Year by the association in 1991 and 1995. In 1999, George served as treasurer of the Vermont Association of Realtors, and in 2000 he served as Vice President.

Ever active in the Middlebury community, George has served as vice-president of the Downtown Middlebury Business Bureau, on the advisory board of the Interfaith Housing Development, and as one of the founders and chair of the Addison County Crime Stoppers. George and his family have lived in Cornwall, Vermont since 1986.
