Barbara Doyle-Wilch, as Dean of Library and Information Services moved to Middlebury Vermont five years ago to build and open the new Middlebury College Library. Since graduating from the Yestermorrow Owner/Design/Build School in Warren VT over twenty years ago, both Barbara and her husband Mark have wanted to move to Vermont and the College provided an excellent opportunity. Besides leading various academic and library building projects during her career as an academic Dean and Librarian; Barbara and her family have renovated six houses in several states. These many projects have given Barbara knowledge of construction and a strong understanding of space use and design.
In the Midwest, Barbara has taught dance classes, served as President of the community arts council and continues to teach ballet at Middlebury College. She has a BA and MA in dance from Butler University in Indianapolis and a MA in Library and Information from University of Denver.
Barbara has two special needs children at home in Salisbury and an artist son living in Aspen Colorado. She is currently President Elect of the Vermont Library Association and is on the Board of NELLINET (a consortium of libraries in the Northeast). She and her husband Mark have been active in the Hannaford Center Diversified Occupations program and with other agencies working with special needs adults in the community.
